Evie and Connor spent their work experience week 29th April to the 3rd May with us at the GSPCA and were able to work in all areas of the Shelter and get fully involved.

Every month the GSPCA hosts dozens of placements and work experience from schools and other organisations and for many this is their first ever experience of the work environment.

From those that hit the floor running to others that have never used a dust pan and brush, by the time work experience leave the GSPCA they pick up a huge variety of skills and learn a great deal from the experienced and knowledgeable team we have.

Tim Pellett GSPCA Training and Community Officer said “It was great to host Evie and Connor last month for their work experience.”

“Evie has since commented that she wishes to return, continue her volunteering at the GSPCA and suggested that Animal Care is a potential career path for her.”

“Connor took the time to thank us and send a card to all the staff and more importantly, brought in some lovely chocolates!”

“We have a busy month with work experience over June and July as it seems this is the peek time with the schools and it is a real pleasure to help those trying to find their career path.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We have volunteers and work experience from 13 years and up at the GSPCA and we are hugely grateful to each and every one for all of their help at the GSPCA.”

“For anyone looking for a career path in animal care we are always here to chat for advice and guidance.”

“It is amazing to see how work experience in previous years have progressed onto veterinary careers, grooming, dog walking, pet care as well as many other industries and many carry on supporting us in a variety of ways.”

“Thank you to Evie and Conor for all of their help and good luck in your future career aspirations and we look forward seeing you no doubt soon.”
