Le Murier School Students Raise Funds for the GSPCA During Enterprise Week
Year 7 and Year 9 students from Le Murier School have raised vital funds for the Guernsey Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (GSPCA) as part of their recent Enterprise Week.
Yesterday, a group of students visited the GSPCA Animal Shelter to present their fundraising cheque and take part in a guided tour with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne. The visit gave the students a unique behind‑the‑scenes insight into the work of the charity, as well as the opportunity to learn more about the GSPCA’s history and its plans for the future.
During the tour, the students enjoyed seeing a wide range of animals and activities across the shelter. From a stray tortoise to the many rabbits, a stray budgie to the ferrets, dogs being walked by volunteers, and even volunteers laying a new path, the group were given a full overview of the day‑to‑day work carried out at the shelter. The visit took place on a lovely sunny day, making it an even more memorable experience for everyone involved.
An impressive £196 was raised by the students and presented to the GSPCA during the visit, with the cheque handed over to Steve Byrne at the front of the Animal Shelter before the tour began.
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to the students from Le Murier School for their fantastic fundraising efforts during Enterprise Week. It was a pleasure to show them around the shelter, explain what we do and see their enthusiasm for animal welfare. Every donation helps us continue caring for animals in need, and their support is truly appreciated.”
