Les Beaucamps Students Lend a Helping Hand at the GSPCA

The GSPCA was delighted to welcome a group of Year 7 to Year 9 students from Les Beaucamps School who spent time volunteering at the charity's St Andrew's headquarters on a beautiful sunny Tuesday.

The enthusiastic students got stuck into a variety of jobs around the site, helping to wash one of the GSPCA's vans as well as carrying out cleaning and sweeping duties to help keep the animal shelter looking its best.

Upon arrival, GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne greeted the students and provided them with everything they needed to tackle the tasks ahead. Their hard work and positive attitude made a valuable contribution to the charity's day-to-day operations.

After completing their volunteering activities, the students enjoyed a guided tour with GSPCA team member Sarah Langlois. During the tour they learned more about the work of the charity and had the opportunity to meet many of the animals currently in the Society's care, including hedgehogs, tortoises and a variety of other rescued animals.

Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said:

"It was wonderful to welcome the students from Les Beaucamps to the GSPCA and see their enthusiasm for helping animals and the charity. Volunteering opportunities like this are a fantastic way for young people to learn more about animal welfare, conservation and the work that takes place behind the scenes at the shelter. The students worked incredibly hard washing our van and helping with cleaning around the site, and we are very grateful for their support."

"Our guided tours and educational visits provide a great opportunity for schools, youth groups and community organisations to learn more about the animals we care for, the challenges wildlife and pets can face, and how everyone can help make a difference. We would encourage anyone interested in arranging a visit to get in touch and find out more."

Les Beaucamps posted on their social media ‘The Charities and Taking Action activities group spent some worthwhile time at the GSPCA helping out!’

The GSPCA regularly welcomes schools, youth groups, businesses and organisations for guided tours and educational visits, helping people of all ages gain a greater understanding of animal welfare and the important work carried out by the charity each day.
