As Spring sets in the GSPCA see a sharp increase in the number of animals coming into the Shelter and needing to be rescued.

Yesterday we were called out to an address in St Peter Port where a cat had found itself stuck high up in a tree since Sunday.

Geoff George Animal Collection Officer arrived at the scene Tuesday morning and after making an assessment he called a colleague, Annie Janes GSPCA Animal Care Assistant to assist with additional equipment.

Although the cat was very frightened, Geoff managed to safely catch the black feline called 'Lucky' and bring down safe and sound where the owner was delighted to see Lucky unharmed and none the worse for wear for the ordeal.

Geoff George Animal Collection Officer said "Poor Lucky had been stuck up the tree for two days and with a little help from a colleague it didn't take long to safely bring the cat down to their owner."

"It gets very busy here at the GSPCA during Spring time and we are filling animal pens fast with all sorts of species both wild and domestic."

Annie Janes GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said "It was lovely to see Lucky safe and back in the arms of the owner."

"We have hundreds of animals at the Shelter and help thousands every year and we are always appealing for support at the GSPCA."

"A regular way to help us is to join as an Angel Pen Pal Sponsor which is a fantastic way to help make a difference to the animals lives in Guernsey."
