Northern Trust Volunteers Lend a Hand at the GSPCA

The GSPCA was delighted to welcome two volunteers from Northern Trust on Friday 26th June, who were given an afternoon away from the office to help support the charity and its ongoing animal welfare work.

During their visit, the volunteers got stuck into a variety of practical tasks around the GSPCA site. Their efforts included cleaning and scrubbing around the overflow area of the pool used by Percival the Puffin, who is continuing his rehabilitation and is expected to be ready for release soon. They also helped lay new anti-slip matting on the steps leading down to the GSPCA's wildlife pond and poison garden area, helping to improve safety for staff, volunteers and visitors.

Northern Trust has been a fantastic supporter of the GSPCA for many years, with more than 200 volunteers having given their time to assist the charity over the last decade. The company will once again be supporting the GSPCA at the Guernsey shows next month.

GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne, who welcomed the volunteers, showed them around the site and coordinated their afternoon of volunteering, said:

"We are incredibly grateful to Northern Trust for their continued support of the GSPCA. Over the past decade they have sent more than 200 volunteers to help us with a huge range of tasks, making a real difference to our animals, wildlife and facilities.”

"It was wonderful to welcome two more members of the Northern Trust team on Friday. They worked incredibly hard helping clean around Percival the Puffin's pool and laying anti-slip matting on the steps to our wildlife pond and poison garden area. Every task completed helps us improve our facilities and allows our team to focus more time on caring for the animals and wildlife that need our help.”

"Corporate volunteering days are a fantastic way for companies and organisations to give back to the community while providing their teams with a rewarding and memorable experience. We look forward to welcoming the Northern Trust team back to help at the shows next month and thank them for their ongoing commitment to the GSPCA."

The GSPCA welcomes interest from local businesses, organisations and groups looking to undertake corporate social responsibility projects and volunteer opportunities with the charity.
