Ogiers Team Lends a Helping Hand at the GSPCA
The GSPCA was delighted to welcome four members of staff from Ogiers who swapped an afternoon in the office for an afternoon of volunteering to help the charity's ongoing development work.
The team were greeted by GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne and Assistant Deputy Manager Ali Le Huray for a quick photograph before rolling up their sleeves and getting straight to work. Armed with paint and equipment kindly provided by Ogiers, the volunteers spent the afternoon painting the exterior of the main kennel building, helping to improve the site as work continues on the GSPCA's ambitious redevelopment project.
Their support forms part of the growing number of corporate volunteer days that enable local businesses and organisations to give back to the community while making a real difference to animal welfare in Guernsey.
After completing the painting work, the Ogiers team were given a behind-the-scenes tour by Ali Le Huray, where they were able to see first-hand the scale of work taking place as part of the GSPCA's Biggest Build Appeal. The visit provided an opportunity to learn more about the charity's animal rescue work and the exciting plans for the future, including the new Wildlife Hospital and kennels.
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager, said:
"We are incredibly grateful to the four members of the Ogiers team who volunteered their time to help us. Not only did they spend an afternoon working hard painting our kennel building, but Ogiers also kindly supplied the paint and equipment needed for the task, which was a huge help to the charity.
"Corporate volunteer days are a fantastic way for local businesses to support the work of the GSPCA. Whether it is helping with practical jobs, supporting one of our wish list projects, donating items we need, fundraising, or supporting one of our appeals, every contribution makes a real difference to the animals in our care.
"As we continue with our Biggest Build Appeal and work towards replacing two essential animal ambulances, support from individuals, businesses and community groups is more important than ever. We would encourage anyone interested in helping to get in touch and find out more about the many ways they can become involved."
Assistant Deputy Manager Ali Le Huray added:
"It was wonderful to welcome the Ogiers team to the GSPCA and show them some of the work taking place behind the scenes. Volunteers often don't get to see the scale of what goes on every day, so it was lovely to be able to give them a tour after their hard work.
"The help they provided painting the kennel building will make a real difference and is something that would otherwise have taken staff and volunteers much longer to complete. We are extremely thankful for their enthusiasm and generosity.
"There are so many ways people can support the GSPCA, from volunteering on site and taking part in corporate volunteer days, to supporting our wish lists, fundraising campaigns, appeals and ongoing redevelopment plans. Every bit of support helps us continue caring for animals across the Bailiwick."
