Yesterday we held our 13th Volunteer Induction of 2019.
During 2019 at our induction events we have inducted an amazing 169 volunteers this year.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We cannot achieve so much without the incredible volunteers and team we have here at the GSPCA and with a busy Christmas ahead we need a huge amount of help to care for the 500+ animals at the GSPCA.”
“We really had a lovely night meeting the 17 new volunteers that joined our induction last night.”
“The first of the new volunteers start next week and we have 7 that will start a Duke of Edinburgh placement over the next few weeks.”
“Some are helping with gardening, some the animal care, some administration, fund raising and some keen to help in anyway they can.”
“In fact with a very busy Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years volunteers will be helping all over the festive period.”
“We have already planned the volunteer inductions for 2020 with the next being held on Wednesday 15th January at 630pm.”
“You can come along no matter your age or interest and you can find out how you can get involved and help support and be involved with the work of the GSPCA.”

You need to be at least 13 years old to help at the Shelter. If you are younger then you could still help. If you talk to your parents or guardians they may help you with fund raising for the Animal Shelter.
To get started in Volunteering at the GSPCA we hold Induction Evenings and in the Summer Afternoons and no matter your age there is always a way you can help.
If you are looking to complete your work experience, Duke of Edinburgh or similar placement it is a requirement to attend one of these sessions to arrange a start date and complete the induction.
We are especially looking for volunteers to help with our grounds and conservation work, driving our ambulance on the weekends and to help in our charity shop.
The Volunteer Induction Evenings planned for 2019 will take place on the following days and times in the Event and Training Room at the GSPCA, but please do call 257261 closer to the date to confirm it is taking place. Inductions take about 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on numbers.
When you arrive to attend please follow the paw prints at the front of reception which will take you to the upper floor where the sessions are held. It is ramped access and any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
