Last month what was a poorly buzzard was rescued in Pont Valliant and brought to the GSPCA.
Yvonne Chauvel Animal Care Supervisor said “Last month we had a buzzard rescued which we called Petal.”
“The finders thought she might have had an injured leg but thankfully after a nights observation and care we were confident she was fit and healthy and got her back to the wild.”
“It’s not often just one nights stay is needed but with Petal that is all she needed and is now back in the wild.”
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It is wonderful when we can get wildlife back where they belong quickly, but its not often it is just a one night stay.”
“We do see many birds at this stime of year suffering with the weather and also trying to find food and shelter and also those that fly into something and daze or stun themselves which is possible with Petal and a short bit of TLC is all they need.”
“The new Wildlife Hospital hasn’t got a frog rehab room built in, but like with Frank the team have the equipment and skills to give them exactly what they need to help get them back to the wild.”
“Our new aviaries are all up and running thanks to the Saffery Rotary Walk and payments and donations after Storm Ciaran but our Wildlife Hospital is still being built so birds like Petal currently go into either hospital or our facilities we have made while the build continues.”
“There are many ways to support our work and help animals like Petal from donating to their care via https://giving.gg/donate/charity/2/Guernsey-Society-for-the-Prevention-of-Cruelty-to-Animals-(GSPCA)to supporting our much needed Wildlife Hospital and other facilities https://www.gspca.org.gg/blog/gspca-biggest-build-appeal .”
