Sixth Form Centre Students Complete Work Experience at the GSPCA
The GSPCA has been delighted to welcome Sixth Form Centre students Aleksandra and Freddie for their recent work experience placement at the charity's animal shelter and wildlife facility.
During their time with the GSPCA, both students spent time assisting across the charity's various departments, gaining first-hand experience of the wide range of work involved in caring for domestic animals, wildlife and supporting the day-to-day running of Guernsey's animal welfare charity.
From helping with animal care and husbandry to learning about the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming work carried out by the GSPCA, Aleksandra and Freddie embraced every opportunity to learn and contribute. Their enthusiasm, positive attitude and willingness to help made them a pleasure to have as part of the team.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:
"It has been an absolute pleasure to have Aleksandra and Freddie with us for their work experience placement from the Sixth Form Centre. They have both shown a genuine interest in animal welfare and have been keen to learn about all aspects of the work we undertake at the GSPCA."
"They have helped in each of our departments, worked alongside our staff and volunteers, and learned about the care and commitment required to look after the many animals that come through our doors each year. We are very grateful for all of their hard work and assistance."
"Work experience placements provide a valuable opportunity for young people to gain practical skills, build confidence and learn more about potential future careers. Aleksandra and Freddie have been a credit to themselves and their school, and we hope to see them again in the future."
"Now that they have completed their work experience, they are welcome to continue volunteering with the GSPCA should they wish to do so, and we would be delighted to have them remain involved with the charity."
The GSPCA regularly offers educational opportunities, placements and volunteering experiences to help people of all ages learn more about animal welfare, conservation and charity work.
