Sooty and Sweep Living Their Best Lives After GSPCA Rescue – Tomorrow we celebrate National Cay Day how will you celebrate?
As National Cat Day approaches tomorrow, the GSPCA is celebrating a heartwarming rehoming success story as two kittens found abandoned in a field over the summer are now thriving in their loving new home.
Sooty and Sweep arrived at the GSPCA after being discovered as tiny stray kittens with no sign of their mother. The pair received care, support and lots of love from the GSPCA team before eventually finding their forever home with Karen and John Edwards.
The GSPCA was delighted to recently receive an update from the couple on how the mischievous pair are settling into family life.
Karen and John Edwards said:
"John and I would like to thank you for letting us adopt Sooty and Sweep. They have brought so much fun and love into our home. They have settled in and are happy crazy kittens.
AJ was very helpful and friendly and explained everything to us. She really is such a credit to the GSPCA and treats them all like her own with so much love.
Kind regards,
Karen and John Edwards."
Stories like Sooty and Sweep's are why the GSPCA team works so hard to care for animals in need and help them find new homes.
GSPCA Animal Care Team member Anna Jones said:
"It is always incredibly rewarding to see animals like Sooty and Sweep go from being vulnerable stray kittens to happy, loved family pets. Every animal that comes through our doors is special to us, and we invest so much care into helping them prepare for their future homes.
Hearing updates from adopters really makes our day, and it is wonderful to know that Sooty and Sweep are bringing so much happiness to Karen and John. We currently have many cats and kittens at the GSPCA looking for homes, and we would encourage anyone considering adding a feline companion to their family to get in touch."
The GSPCA loves hearing from former residents and receiving photographs and updates showing just how well adopted animals are doing in their new homes.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:
"Sooty and Sweep's story is a wonderful reminder of why animal rescue and rehoming is so important. These two kittens were found alone in a field with no sign of their mum and, thanks to the care of our team and the kindness of their adopters, they now have the happy future they deserve.
Tomorrow is National Cat Day, a special opportunity to celebrate the joy cats bring to our lives while also remembering the many cats and kittens still waiting for homes. Whether you choose to adopt, donate, volunteer or simply help spread the word about animals in need, every form of support makes a difference.
The care of cats and kittens requires significant resources, from food and veterinary treatment to heating, enrichment and daily care. We are very grateful to everyone who supports the GSPCA and helps us continue rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming animals across Guernsey."
