Last week at the GSPCA we have three of the volunteers from the Guernsey Bereavement Service a guided tour of the GSPCA as a special thanks.

Last month the Guernsey Bereavement Service once again helped provide training to staff and volunteers at the GSPCA as we often have t hel those through the death of their pet.

Just last night GSPCA Wardens and the Manager helped a young cat that had been killed by a road traffic incident and the break the sad news to the owner who was extremely upset.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are hugely grateful to the Guernsey Bereavement Service for their training to the GSPCA team and all they do for bereaved pet owners.”

“Last way as a thanks for the training we gave the three volunteers a guided tour of the GSPCA facilities which the really enjoyed.”

Tim Pellett GSPCA Community and Training Officer said “The 3 ladies from Guernsey Bereavement Service wanted to pass on their heartfelt thanks to everyone at the GSPCA who made them so welcome last week.”

“They really appreciate the time taken by staff out of their busy schedule to talk and show their departments.”

“We visited the hedgehogs, rabbits, guinea pigs and were able to view the seals at play.”

“We also met with the reptiles and briefly, the cats department.”

“Finally, I was able to show the change to the garden since the opening and one of the ladies had not seen the inside of the Chapel of Rest.”

Steve continued “Just last night we had to help an owner through the death of their pet and it is one of the hardest thing for any pet owner to go through.”

“To have the Guernsey Bereavement Service to help any of us who are bereaved is a real comfort and for any who are dealing with loss do please contact them if you feel you need support.”
