Stray Turkeys Spotted Across Guernsey – GSPCA Appeals to Locate Owners
The GSPCA is appealing for information after receiving a number of reports regarding stray turkeys seen in different parts of Guernsey.
One turkey has recently been spotted in the vicinity of Anytime Fitness in St Peter Port, whilst at least four turkeys have been regularly reported in the Coutanchez, Capelles and Longcamps area near Grow Limited.
All of the birds appear to be in good condition and may be living as free-ranging birds. However, the GSPCA is keen to identify their owners to help reassure members of the public who have expressed concerns for their welfare and safety.
GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne said:
“The GSPCA helps thousands of lost and found animals every year, ranging from dogs and cats through to wildlife, farm animals and occasionally more unusual visitors. We do receive reports of stray turkeys from time to time and are normally able to trace the owners fairly quickly."
“In this case, whilst the turkey near St Peter Port may be a recent arrival, the group of turkeys near Grow Limited are believed to have been in the area for quite some time. They all appear healthy and well, but we would very much like to identify the owner so that we can reassure those who have contacted us with concerns."

The GSPCA reminds islanders that if they have lost or found an animal, advice is available online and reports can be registered through the charity's website.
