The GSPCA opened the first day to advent with the news that Guernsey's animal welfare laws, including increased penalties for cruelty offences were agreed today by the states.

After much debate over nearly a decade the GSPCA were overjoyed with the news of the new legislation.  The update on the legislation covers many aspects and focuses on the five freedoms to help improve animal welfare as well as looking at ways to prevent animals from suffering.

Buy someone a guided tour at the GSPCA Animal Shelter for Christmas

Submitted by Steve on 22:47, 29th Nov, 2011 | 1

Thinking of a Christmas Present?

Why not buy a gift that will help the animals of Guernsey.

For only £25 you can purchase a gift certificate that will allow the holder to have a guided tour of the shelter in January as well as a chance to the meet the GSPCA Manager over a hot drink and a cake.

For the first time you will have the chance to see behind the scenes and many of the animals at the shelter.  You will also find out about the GSPCA’s plan for 2012 and about the work we have already done.

Round Table Christmas Fayre Success

Submitted by GSPCA on 10:13, 25th Nov, 2011 | 0

We would like to thank everyone that helped support us at the recent Christmas Fayre held by the Round Table in Beau Sejour.  The event helped raise £540 for the shelter through the tombola, Christmas toys, cards, treats and other animal and GSPCA goods.

A special mention must go to Bryony Nicholls who made some very special cakes, Lorna Prince for organising it and the helpers on the day Jo Fox, Helen Holmes, Yvonne Chavel, Steve Byrne, Richard Chandler, Emma Trousdale, Mika Hooper, Bernard our Mascot and everyone who helped donate for the tombola.
