This week the GSPCA Purple Week celebrates 142 years helping animals in Guernsey.
We have a number of events throughout the week and on Tuesday 10th February at 6.30pm you can join the second volunteer induction evening of 2015.
We are always looking for volunteers to help at the Shelter in a variety of roles.
On Saturday Shane Cumming celebrated her 60th birthday with a difference.
Held at the Half Moon in St Peter Port the crowd of over 100 friends and family that came along through the night were asked to bring donations of animal food for the many species in the care of the GSPCA.
Not only were three bin full loads of food and treats donated, but Shane and husband Duncan also arranged a meat draw which with donations raised the grand total of £492 which they also donated to help the animals at the GSPCA.
You may remember last November a feral kitten was rescued from the Admiral Park area in Guernsey.
The kitten was extremely nervous and she had a belly full of worms and a coat covered in fleas.
After a series of treatments and care at the GSPCA she was fit enough to go to a new home.
This week at the GSPCA we have received an update and we are pleased to announce she is doing extremely well.
Anna Paint Senior Animal Care Assistant said "Spot was extremely nervous and in bit of a state when she first arrived at the GSPCA last November."
Last year we held a number of cat and dog first aid sessions which proved extremely popular.

Just over two weeks ago you may remember 'Frank' an oiled sea bird arrived at the GSPCA.
Frank was found near the Fairy Rink in Pleinmont covered in oil on January 15th.
After a period in an intensive care unit, a number of bathes to remove the oil and treatment he has been recovering well.
Today with his feather condition recovering he had his first dip out on the pool at the GSPCA, which despite the cold he seemed to thoroughly enjoy.
During February 2015 half term at the GSPCA we will be running a series of guided tours.
This is your opportunity to visit behind the scenes at our Animal Shelter in St Andrews and see the work being carried out for the new build.
We are arranging guided tours on a series of dates at 2pm.
We ask for a minimum donation of £5 per person and £3 per child, or £15 for a family of four.
The tours take around 80 minutes and you get to see in many of the departments and a variety of species.
The GSPCA would like to thank the finder and Guernsey Police for helping us track down the wildlife camera that went missing just over a week ago.
The camera which is one being used trying to help find Bertie the stray dog was removed from its location near Vale Church.
The camera was found in the long grass on L'Ancresse common.
The GSPCA and owners of Bertie the stray Schnauzer have located cameras in locations near to where he has been seen.
Sadly we have been unable to get any photographic evidence of Bertie who went missing in November.
