With only 3 days to go the GSPCA are getting ready for our BIGGEST event of the year the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and just look who is coming.
Not only do we have Bernard over very own GSPCA Mascot but his friends Olaf and Dave the Minion are popping along to say hello to the crowds.
To judge the fun dog show 'Olaf' will take centre stage to see who has the waggiest tail to dog looking most like their owner.
Olaf and Dave popped by today and are looking forward seeing everyone this Sunday from 10am.
24 hours a day, 7 days a week staff and volunteers work around the clock at the GSPCA to ensure the animals are cared for and those in need can be rescued around Guernsey.
At present with the 25 Slovakian puppies and many other animals at the GSPCA we are continually appealing for animal feed and cleaning products.
One of the wonderful additions that has benefited many animals at the Shelter has been our Wish List which we have both on our website and a link to an Amazon Wish List.
With only 5 days to go don't forget as part of the Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday there will be a fun dog show.
We are pleased to announce once again we have a fantastic line up of live music to entertain you at this weekends Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.
Thanks to Greenman MCC and L H Events for their support and help in providing and setting up the stage. Also a huge thank you to the bands and singers coming along.
This Sunday is the biggest event of the year for the GSPCA.
The day is packed with events, stalls and more but for stall holders we are asking everyone to set up between 8am and 930am with all vehicles parked by 930am as there is the Battle of Britain parade who prepare at 9.40am and set off at 9.50am.
The parade will come from the Weighbridge Roundabout and will then line up outside the Town Church and Marks and Spencers for an inspection.
The parade will include many local cadet groups, The Royal British Legion Standards, the Guernsey Veterans and many others.
Last Wednesday and Thursday we took the GSPCA stall along to the North Show.
On Wednesday morning the weather challenged the team but despite high winds and rain after 4 hours we were set up and ready to raise funds for the animals at the Shelter.
The North Show is one of the main events in Guernsey's summer calendar, and takes place in the wonderful rural setting of Saumarez Park.
The Guernsey North Show and Battle of Flowers is run by the Northern Agricultural and Horticultural Society and the GSPCA are very grateful to them for allowing us to come along.
We would like to say a huge thank you to the kind an caring supporters who have donated a number of items to help us in our new multi purpose animal welfare building and the many animals at the GSPCA.
Last week we received a few packages at the Shelter and when we opened them they contained a number of toys, weighing scales, litter trays and other goodies.
At the GSPCA we are normally appealing for homes for animals, but we are currently appealing for your unwanted soft toys.
After a very busy summer fund raising at many events we are running low on cuddly toys which we use as prizes on some of our games to help raise funds for the Shelter.
If you have any unwanted soft toys then please pop them up to the Shelter or if you need a vehicle to pick up quite a few then please let us know and we can arrange collection.
Not got a dog you can bring down, but own a pet then this is your chance to take part in a show without the need to bring them along.
We are asking pet owners to take pictures of their pets and for a donation per class you can enter your cat, rabbit, horse, donkey, stick insect, tortoise, whatever it may be into a virtual pet show.
There is even a chance to win with pictures of wildlife you may have taken.
It all takes place on Sunday 13th September as part of our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.
Every picture will be considered for each class and they are:
