The GSPCA and we are sure all the animals and people you have helped would like to send a sincere and heart felt thanks to all of the Guernsey Animal Aid team for all they have done helping animals and our community for over 25 years.

Guernsey Animal Aid was founded in 1998 by Sue Vidamour as an answer to the feral cat problem in Guernsey. Prior to this Sue had been rehoming horses and dogs for 6 years. In 1998 there were 34 feral cat colonies on the island so Sue held a meeting about the problem and Guernsey Animal Aid was formed.

Since then Sue and her fabulous team have done so much and certainly helped thousands and thousands of animals over the years, but sadly closed their doors for the final time at the end of last month.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “The GSPCA wish to say a massive thank you to Guernsey Animal Aid for all they have done for animals and our community for over quarter of a century, but very sadly closed their doors on the 31st December.”

“We are certain those Guernsey Animal Aid have helped no matter how many legs from the community to the many animals would also like to say a huge thanks.”

“Working in animal welfare the GSPCA and Guernsey Animal Aid met at many meetings over the years to talk with States Vets, law officers, housing departments to tacial all sorts of issues and often had other combined collaborations due to the many challenges we have faced over the years.”

“I was very lucky to have a tour of Guernsey Animal Aid with Sue shortly after arriving in Guernsey 13 years ago and her commitment and her teams caring and devotion to help animals has been incredible.”

“Thank you Sue, Marianne and all the Guernsey Animal Aid team for all you have done.”

New Years Eve Guernsey Animal Aid posted this kind message on their facebook page – ‘A MESSAGE FROM SUE

I would like to give my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has sent such lovely messages, letters, cards and comments following our statement with the closure of Guernsey Animal Aid. Today, we close our doors for the final time, and although it is an extremely sad time for us all, your lovely words have lifted our spirits tremendously. I would also like to thank our wonderful team of volunteers, some who have been with us for over 20 years, I will miss you all. A special thank you to Les and the team at Vets 4 Pets, who have been amazing. To our loyal friends who have supported us financially with standing orders, and all donations, you have been our lifeline and I am truly grateful for your generosity. To the businesses that have supported us by allowing our Charity Collection Pots on their premises, your support has been very much appreciated.

And finally, special thanks for the lovely cards, letters and gifts that I have received personally. It has really helped me get through this sad time.

Thank you all, and I wish you a very Happy & Peaceful New Year
