Yesterday at the GSPCA we welcomed PC Tom Wright No 37.

For many years as part of their training Police Officers have come and spent the day at the GSPCA as we work closely in so many ways from stray and lose animals to cruelty cases

PC Tom arrived in the morning where he first spent time with Lorna Chadwick the GSPCA Animal Welfare Officer who heads up amongst many other duties investigating reports of cruelty and neglect.  Lorna has over 2 decades experience in working in animal welfare and has a wealth of knowledge is Guernsey Animal Welfare Law and dealing with investigating reports of concerns which some sadly reach prosecution which we work closely with the Guernsey Police and other authorities.

He then spent time with the GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne learning more of our work, challenges, plans and even the history of the GSPCA.

This was followed with having a tour with GSPCA Training and Community Officer Tim pellet who explained his role, show cased the site and introduced PC Tom to many of the animals and team members.

The day ended with PC Tom helping out in the animal departments specifically with Animal Care Assistant Nathan Ogier (pictured) as he helped walk and care for the dogs at the GSPCA.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was lovely to meet PC Tom Wright yesterday and show him the GSPCA.”

“He got to meet many of the team and learn about all we do and the challenges we face with investigating cruelty and neglect to animals.”

“It is extremely rare for a day to go by that we aren’t working with multiple departments in the States of Guernsey, especially Guernsey Police and it is wonderful when we get to meet the Officers and get to know them.”

“If the are any authorities, businesses, groups or anyone who would like to support or know more about us please do get in touch.”

“At the GSPCA we run a number of training courses and to find out more please visit https://www.gspca.org.gg/services/training-courses .”
