No matter whether a member of staff, volunteer, work placement, Work to Benefit, work experience, voluntourist, CSR volunteer or anyone helping at the GSPCA all of those that help are valued and we strive to provide the training they require to do the very best for the animals and those around them and the community we serve.

Training is not always about just animal care as we have to look after one another and recently some of those volunteering and placements got the opportunity to attend a first aid course.

One of those was Jon Slimm who recently completed Emergency First Aid Training at the PEH.

Jon is a volunteer who has been with us since December 2018 and regularly completes 20-25 hours per week.

Jon joined us through Guernsey Employment Trust and has become a very valued member of the team here at the GSPCA.

Tim Pellett GSPCA Community and Training Officer said “Jon has become a fantastic member of the team at the GSPCA.”

“He helps in many departments and the team all appreciate all that he does for them and the animals in our care.”

“We are always looking for training opportunities for our volunteers, staff and placements and it was great to see Jon so proud of his first aid certificate after his training at the PEH.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Jon is a real star at the GSPCA and it was great that he was able to attend the first aid training and that he enjoyed it.”

“We are always looking for training opportunities for our team and love to hear from those that can help.”

“This year we have had trainers come over from the UK for free to Guernsey Mind, Guernsey Bereavement Service to Lloyds Bank talking about financial well being and if there are any organisations or businesses that could help our team we would love to hear from them.”

“We also run a number of training courses ourselves and next Monday we have the next Cat First Aid course.”

“If you can help our team please do give us a call on 257261 or email us on [email protected] .”
