For over 40 years the GSPCA has operated a 24/7 Ambulance Service thanks to our amazing team.

Without volunteers we could not operate 24/7 365 days a year and we are currently looking to recruit additional volunteers that can help us cover this essential service that helps 1000’s of animals every year.

Volunteers need to have a full clean driving licence and a passion for heling animals and the Guernsey community.

The hours are 6pm until 8am each night and each Volunteer Warden comes to collect a GSPCA Animal Ambulance and the emergency phone and then responds to emergencies that come through during those hours.

From helping round up strays to rescuing sick and injured animals, the role is varied and can be very busy on some nights to nights with no calls at all.

We are also looking for volunteer wardens to help during the day especially between 8am and 6pm on Saturday and Sundays.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Our Volunteer Ambulance Wardens are an incredible team which help ensure we can operate a rescue service 24/7 in Guernsey.”

“Just in the last few nights the Ambulance Wardens have helped dogs, cats, birds, farm animals and many others and no 2 nights are the same.”

“Sometimes it can be as simple as a bit of advice such as putting a healthy baby bird somewhere safe near it’s mum or it could be very serious such as helping with a cruelty case.”

"You do need a driving licence and be someone that really wants to help make a difference like all those amazing volunteers that already warden for us."

“There is always someone on duty at the GSPCA on site so anyone thinking of this role they would never be completely on their own as there is always someone to talk to.”

“For anyone interested in helping as a Volunteer Animal Ambulance Warden there is training and we would love to hear from you please call 01481 257261, pop into the GSPCA or email me on [email protected] .”
