Volunteers Needed to Dress as Animal Mascots at Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday
The GSPCA is appealing for volunteers to help bring smiles to the seafront this weekend by dressing up as animal mascots at Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday, taking place on Sunday 3rd May at the Crown Pier.
Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday is a popular annual event celebrating the work of local animal charities, giving the public the chance to learn more about animal welfare, enjoy family-friendly activities and help raise vital funds. Volunteers dressed as animal mascots play a key role in entertaining the crowds, engaging children and adults alike, and supporting fundraising efforts on the day.
The GSPCA is now looking for enthusiastic volunteers who would be willing to help by wearing one of the charity’s animal mascot costumes, helping to collect donations and spreading the message about caring for animals.
Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager and volunteer, said:
“Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday is always a fantastic event and a great opportunity to engage with the community. Our animal mascots really help draw people in, especially families and children, and every donation collected helps us continue our work caring for animals in need. If you can spare a few hours and don’t mind having some fun while supporting a good cause, we would love to hear from you.”
Anyone interested in volunteering as an animal mascot is asked to email [email protected] or simply come along to the Crown Pier on the day to speak to a member of the GSPCA team.

#GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal Update
The GSPCA Wildlife Hospital, part of the #GSPCABiggestBuildAppeal, continues to progress impressively. The west wing roof trusses are now complete, giving a striking preview of the future facility, and the east wing roof trusses are scheduled to begin very soon.
With the project now at its halfway point, the GSPCA is encouraging supporters to join the appeal by:
- Donating to the Build Fund
- Sponsoring a room, kennel, aviary, or specialised unit
- Supporting sustainability upgrades, including planned solar panel installations
- Taking part in events or community fundraising
- Leaving a gift or message of support via giving.gg
Every contribution supports the future of wildlife rescue in Guernsey for generations to come.
