Each morning this week Candidates from the 2020 Election are visiting the GSPCA.

Today Yves Le Normand, Craig Bougord and Simon de la Mare had a tour of the GSPCA with Manager Steve Byrne and Training and Community Officer Tim Pellett.

The three Candidates had the chance to see behind the scenes and learn of the work of the GSPCA as well as our challenges and those faced investigating animal cruelty, neglect and other animal related offences.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “It was great to show the first group of Candidates around the GSPCA today.”

“Each morning we have invited the 2020 Candidates to attend the GSPCA to hear not only about our 24/7, the daily challenges we face and those we face in the current climate of Covid-19.”

“Today we welcomed Yves Le Normand, Craig Bougord and Simon de la Mare and we really enjoyed showing them around and talking about the current Animal Welfare 2012 Ordinance and those areas still yet to be enacted."

"We discussed key challenges we face from reuniting animals with no identification, loose farm animals and horses, illegal importation of animals and the possible diseases animals from abroad can pose to animal and human health, the fund raising challenges to those risks nesting and roosting wild animals can and do face from builders and gardeners.”

"We cannot thank those Candidates enough for taking the tim to come and see us today it is really appreciated and they all very much enjoyed their tour and learning about our challenges."

“It has been interesting to read the views of the Candidates about the questions posed to them especially in regards compulsory microchipping and DNA dog faeces testing.”

“We look forward welcoming the next group tomorrow and any Candidate not yet replied please do call us on 01481 257261 or email us on [email protected] to book in on a group tour.”

"We must thank those Candidates that have sent very kind and supportive words that aren't able to attend."
