Today, on World Cat Day, the GSPCA is celebrating the incredible bond between cats and their humans—and the vital work we do to protect, care for, and rehome our feline friends across the island.
Each year, the GSPCA helps thousands of cats and owners through a wide range of services, from rescuing strays and reuniting lost pets to providing safe shelter, foster care, and boarding.
“Cats bring so much joy, comfort, and companionship to our lives,” said Steve Byrne, GSPCA Manager. “At the GSPCA, we’re proud to support every stage of a cat’s journey—from the moment they’re found to the day they curl up in their forever home.”
At any given time, the GSPCA cares for over 50 cats, either in our fabulous cattery, in foster homes, or through our boarding service. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to ensure every cat receives the love, medical care, and enrichment they need.
“Whether it’s a stray needing shelter, a family searching for their lost pet, or someone boarding their cat while away, we’re here to help,” Byrne added. “World Cat Day is a chance to celebrate these amazing animals and the people who care for them.”
The GSPCA also maintains a Lost & Found Pet Register, helping reunite cats with their families through social media posts, community alerts, and microchip scanning.
