Since the summer of 2015 twice a week David and his wife Gill Dunkerley have been volunteering at the GSPCA.

Today is a very special day for David as he celebrates his 85th year and all the team and animals want to wish him a very happy birthday which he shares with his namesake on what is St David’s Day.

David is a real superstar volunteer for the GSPCA helping twice a week caring for the ferrets and pet birds looking for homes and the team had a little whip round to get him a card and gifts to help celebrate his birthday which he is spending volunteering at the GSPCA.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “David is our very own Saint as is his wife Gill who both give up two mornings ever week to help care for the animals at the GSPCA.”

“David really enjoys helping with the pet birds looking for homes and the ferrets and we all really appreciated his wonderful young and fun loving heart.”

“Both David and Gill are a joy to have volunteering and we are hugely grateful to them both.”

“From all at the GSPCA we want to wish David a very Happy 85th Birthday.”

Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “We’ve all just sung David Happy Birthday and given him a card and few gifts from us all at the GSPCA.”

“We even had Welsh Cakes to enjoy for David’s birthday as Steve got us some for St David’s Day, and our David is a Saint to us here at the GSPCA.”

Yvonne Chauvel GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant said “David is a real Saint to us at the GSPCA and we all wish him a very Happy Birthday as do the ferrets and birds looking for homes.”

Steve continued “We are always looking for new volunteers to help in many ways and this Tuesday we have the next volunteer induction evening open to all starting at 6.30pm.”

“We couldn’t achieve so much without our volunteers and David recently received a Certificate of Appreciation as did many of our volunteers for wonderful comments said about their help at the GSPCA.”
