Last week the GSPCA had a visit from two young ladies called Jasmine and Robyn.
At only 11 years old the kind hearted supporters of the GSPCA decided to do something special to help raise funds for the 24/7 work that goes on and the BIG BUILD.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “At the GSPCA we have to say a very special thank you to two 11 year old girls called Jasmine and Robyn.”
“They have been up last week and this with specially home made bracelets for us to sell at the GSPCA and our events to help raise funds for our animal care and rescue work as well as our BIG BUILD.”
“The bracelets are amazing and have been selling fast and the young ladies have offered to make bespoke bracelets with pets names on them if requested at the GSPCA we can pass the details on and arrange it [email protected] .”
We asked Jasmine and Robyn a few questions –
So what types of Pets do you have? -
Pets include dogs, cats, chickens and fish: Willow, Barney, Waffle, Sinta, and Black Widow.
Whose idea was it?
It was Jasmine's idea to start raising money for charity by selling bracelets after she saw how many bracelets Robyn had made. They have paid for all the beads, charms, string, and packaging themselves out of their pocket money.
How long do they take to make?
The bracelets take about 5 minutes to make, and the girls made nearly 50 in the first week of the summer holidays. They do not ask for any money back when the charities sell the bracelets: the charities set the sale price (typically £1.50) and keep 100% of the money paid for them.
Have they helped other charities also?
The girls have given bracelets to Les Bourgs Hospice (where people can also request custom orders), Health Connections and the GSPCA.
What would they like to do when they are older?
The girls would love to work with animals when they are older, and are doing their bit now to raise money for the adult volunteers who work with local charities.
Steve continued “There are always lots of ways to support our work and we are so thankful to everyone that supports all that we do.”
