Today we are pleased to update that Joey the Jersey grey seal pup is doing so well that he has gone for his first dip in one of our rehabilitation pools at the GSPCA.

Geoff George Head of Marine Mammals at the GSPCA said  “After weeks in the intensive care room today Joey got his first swim and jumped straight in and has been in and out all day.”

“He is doing very well and being very naughty pulling whatever he can into the pool.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Such great news that Joey has had his first dip in Guernsey water today at the GSPCA.”

“Joey is doing extremely well and we are all so pleased to see him in a rehab pool the next step after the intensive care area.”

“He is eating and putting on weight well but we really need your support.”

“With such difficult times we really need donations to help towards our work and the care of Joey and other animals please call 01481 257261, at the GSPCA, Rue des Truchots, St Andrews, Guernsey GY6 8UD or online .”

“To help ensure we can help animals 24/7 why not become a regular sponsor to help animals like Joey especially during these extremely difficult days and to find out more please visit .”

“We really couldn’t do so much without your support and every penny really helps make a difference.”

“As we keep sharing we are in the middle of seal pup season now in the Channel Islands and if you see a seal pup please do not approach it but do take a picture and send it in and give us a call so we know where they are and assess they are okay.”

“By approaching a seal pup you could scare its mother away and put the pup at risk so please keep a very safe distance and do not allow your dogs anywhere near them.”

“For advice on what to do if you find injured wildlife please visit or call us 24/7 on 01481 257261.”

“Finally thank you to all that have supported our work at the GSPCA.”
