The GSPCA helps over 2000 sick and injured wild animals every year and despite the difficulties we as humans have faced many wild animals have prospered and currently we have seen record numbers of hedgehogs and other animals.

For advice on what to do if you find sick or injured wild animals please call our emergency number on 01481 257261 or check out our pages on wildlife advice - https://www.gspca.org.gg/animals/wildlife-advice

2020 was supposed to be the year we built a new wildlife hospital but sadly due to the difficulties of the world pandemic it is currently on hold but is a much needed facility.

The main focus of the GSPCA is to raise the funds to ensure we can carry out our 24/7 work 35 days a year and we are currently working on a new strategy so we too can look to the future.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “The work we do at the GSPCA is entwined with the natural world and with over 2000 sick and injured wild animals through our doors every year we need to ensure they have habitat and resources to survive and prosper.”

“It is essential that Guernsey has a strategy that works across all areas of the island for our wildlife if we want to ensure a healthy bio-diverse environment for future generations.”

"You can currently see the Strategy for Nature from the States of Guernsey at Beau Sejour and tomorrow their staff will be there from 5pm to answer any questions."

“We are currently working on our own strategy at the GSPCA as so many things have changed in recent months.”

“We thought we would have been in the middle of a Wildlife Hospital build but due to Covid-19 our focus is bringing in the funds to ensure we can maintain our 24/7 service and care for the hundreds of animals at the Shelter.”

“Every day is a real struggle to raise the funds to run the GSPCA and care for the hedgehogs during these difficult days.”

“For those wanting to donate to our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal you can by calling 01481 257261, by post, at the Shelter or online via our web page https://giving.gg/donate/event/5876/GSPCA-Coronavirus-Emergency-Appeal .”
