Tomorrow on Sunday 29th April Sidney a rescue dog called Sidney is inviting you to join lots of animal welfare owners and dogs to raise funds for those in need.
Sidney and his owner have organised a sponsored walk to raise funds for the GSPCA and Woodlands Farm Kennels which is where under their and the RSPCA care Sidney was adopted.
Corinne Connolly, Sidney and a group of GSPCA volunteers will be registering walkers from 1pm for a 2pm start at the Grandes Rocgues car park. The walk is just under 5 miles and will finish t The Beachouse at L'Ancresse.
Do you get anxious or scared if there is a dog nearby?
Do you avoid places or situations because of this?
Would you like to change this?
If you have answered “yes” to these questions, then an event on Saturday 21st April could be for you.
The GSPCA in collaboration with the Health and Social Services Department will be running a half day Dog Phobia Workshop at the Animal Shelter.
The GSPCA are in full support of the warning issued today regarding the law and not riding motor bikes on the cliff paths.
It puts dog walkers, ramblers and animals at risk.
GSPCA Manager, Steve Byrne said 'It is very concerning to hear that people are not only breaking the law by driving on our coastal paths but they are putting people, animals and themselves at risk.' 'Thankfully we haven't had any accidents with any animals yet but if this continues it is only a matter of time.'
With winter and cold weather with us and potential snow on the way the GSPCA want pet owners and the public to consider all the animals of Guernsey. During a cold snap the GSPCA are on full alert, ready to deal with a variety of animals affected by the cold weather.
But you can also do your bit to prevent animals suffering over the cold period.
DO you have a pond?
Sherbert our beautiful Husky has at last found the perfect home!
After months of searching Sherbert has finally found a new home with a family that can offer her a wonderful new life.
Thanks to her new owner’s Sherbert has avoided becoming the GSPCA’s longest term dog and a possible trip to an RSPCA Centre in the South of England where it was hoped she would have better luck with her search.
The GSPCA has had recent reports of not only individuals that may have received puppies from puppy farms in the UK but also individuals that have been deceived online from websites advertising puppies for sale.
The GSPCA always encourages responsible pet ownership and by purchasing animals on line or from a puppy farm is far from helping animal welfare.
Every year at this time we remember the lost and fallen that have gone before us. Remembrance Day (also known as Poppy Day, Armistice Day or Veterans Day) is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth countries to remember the members of their armed forces who have died in the line of duty since World War I. This day, or alternative dates, are also recognized as special days for war remembrances in many non-Commonwealth countries.
