After the BIGGEST ever GSPCA event on Easter Sunday a call came into our GSPCA emergency line not for what you would expect such as an Easter bunny but instead for a Christmas turkey.
A stray turkey had been spotted in St Martins and GSPCA Ambulance Warden had to rescue the bird while many around Guernsey enjoyed their Easter Eggs.
The bird is doing very well at the GSPCA and we are currently appealing for the owner to come forward.

Sunday 28th May Giant Animal Mascot 5-a-side football event at 2pm, would like to join in?
Once again we will be holding a Giant Animal Mascot event to entertain the crowds at our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.
This is open to mascots and individuals prepared to dress as an animal and play a fun football game with a rather over sized ball.
We are asking businesses, pubs, individuals or anyone as a team of 5 or an individual and we can make extra teams on the day.
From the GSPCA we would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all involved and supported an amazing Easter Event on Sunday.
The event was all thanks to Island FM who teamed up with Regency Bedding and created an exciting event and fundraiser to introduce Primary School Children to a fun afternoon of Taster Sessions of Alternative Sports and Activities with Outdoor Guernsey at Rue Maingy Activity Centre.
The Sporting activities included Archery, the Indoor Climbing Wall and High Ropes.
Yesterday the team at the GSPCA welcomed Heidi Chambers and her family for a guided tour at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
RSPCA Chief Inspector Heidi Chambers is in Guernsey visiting family and has known the GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne for many years as they were colleagues when he worked for the RSPCA in the UK.
Steve gave Heidi and her family a behind the scenes tour of the GSPCA and explained the 24/7 work carried out here in Guernsey helping animals and the community.
Petplan and the Association of Dogs and Cats Homes (ADCH) have joined forces for the fifth year of the Animal Charity Awards. The awards celebrate the outstanding work of staff and volunteers in animal charities and not-for-profit organisations across the UK, Ireland and Channel Islands.
The team at the GSPCA are overjoyed to report that Geoff George GSPCA Animal Collection Officer from nearly 5000 nominations is one of three finalists for the Animal Charity Employee of the Year.
Last month a young man and a young lady interested in an animal care career spent a week experiencing work and helping out at the GSPCA.
Charles Allen and Bethany Shackcloth from Les Beaucamps High spent a four long shifts working with the team at the Animal Shelter in St Andrews.
Where as many of their fellow students were carrying out work experience 9am to 5pm, Charles and Bethany although only worked a 4 day week their shifts were much longer being from 8am in the morning until 6pm at night as the staff at the GSPCA have to work long days to care for the animals.
Be aware this weekend you could be putting your pet at risk at Easter if you feed your pet chocolate intended for people or they manage to find those carefully hidden from the children.
Across the Bailiwick we are all stocking up Easter eggs and chocolate as gifts for family and loved ones, but the GSPCA has an important message for pet owners.
