The GSPCA are currently looking for a staff members to help with our increasingly busy front desk and develop our charity shop area.
We are also looking for an additional casual animal care assistant to help meet the needs of the Shelter.
All roles are to help cover 7 days a week and especially on weekends and bank holidays when the GSPCA is often extremely busy.
We have a team of 20 staff and over 600 volunteers and without the whole team we couldn't help the 3000+ animals that come through the doors every year, care for the many boarders and achieve so much.
Last Sunday GSPCA Warden Suzy Rose was called out to a very poorly large seabird.
The bird was identified as a comorant and staff were concerned for its health due to line possibly attached to a hook inside the bird so it was taken to Isabelle Vets.
The bird was examined by Vet Ben Howitt who decided to x-ray the cormorant that the GSPCA staff has named 'Lady in Black'.
The x-ray clearly showed a hook inside Lady in Black and so the bird needed 5 days worth of care and a little luck to help her back to the wild.
Due to HUGE DEMAND and sell out as soon as it went live we can confirm a second night of the Swede Dreamz Tribute Band present an evening of ABBA Ball in aid of the GSPCA Saturday 27th May at the Duke of Richmond Hotel

With cold weather on the way the GSPCA want pet owners to consider all the animals of Guernsey.
During a cold snap the GSPCA are on full alert, ready to deal with a variety of animals affected by the low temperatures.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "With the coming cold snap and possible snow on its way, at the GSPCA we want to ensure pets and other animals kept and live outside are safe and have all they need."
On Thursday we held the first volunteer induction of 2017 at the GSPCA and saw a packed room of 21 new helpers keen to learn how they can get involved with us here at the Animal Shelter.
The induction took place just after 6.30pm with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne talking to the group about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely.
GSPCA staff member Gilly McClean was also there to help and chat to the group of new volunteers aged from 13 years upwards.

Last month two baby guinea pigs arrived at the GSPCA after a lady who was gifted a female guinea pig was found to be pregnant and asked for our help.
The two lovely little bundles of cuteness were named Choc Chip and Panda and after a short stay at the GSPCA were quickly found a loving new home.
Were have just been sent this message from the lovely new owner "You may remember us as Choc Chip and Panda the tiny baby guineas, but we have had a little name change to Billy and Clive."
Yesterday GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne welcomed Guernsey Disability Alliance ED Karen Blanchford to the Shelter in St Andrews.
The GSPCA are always looking at ways to improve the facilities at the Shelter and to improve the opportunities for the community as well as the animals needing our care and help.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "It was wonderful to meet and show Karen from GDA around yesterday and discuss ideas of how we can work together and benefit the community."
We were recently over joyed to get an update on Jack and Luli who was Jill, two cats that were adopted as kittens in the Summer of 2012.
