GSPCA Celebrating 150 years – CAR PARK DISRUPTION Friday 3rd March between 8am and 11am

The GSPCA would like to warn visitors that on Friday the 3rd March 2023 we have essential repairs taking place in our main car park.

This will mean those using the back car park will likely be trapped if parked there before 8am until 11am when the work is completed.

We apologise for the disruption and endeavour to keep the challenges to a minimum.

GSPCA Purple Month – CSR at the GSPCA huge thanks to Northern Trust

Last year the Northern Trust spent two days volunteering at the GSPCA.

On the 15th July 3 Northern Trust staff arrived at 9am to be greeted by Tim Pellett the GSPCA Training and Community Officer and at the North Show 3 further staff ehelped Steve Byrne and Lorna Prince on our stall.

Tim Pellett GSPCA Community and Training Officer said “Last year we welcomed 3 staff from Northern Trust who were fantastic volunteers helping around site from planting bulbs to caring for our Memorial Garden.”

GSPCA Purple Month – BNP Paribas become an Exclusive Build Partner for the GSPCA Wildlife Hospital and support our 150 years

The GSPCA are delighted that BNP Paribas is supporting the GSPCA in a number of ways as their chosen charity.

BNP Paribas have not only decorated their reception area next to the taxi rank in St Peter Port for our 150th GSPCA Purple Month, they have also become an Exclusive Build Partner for our much needed Wildlife Hospital.

GSPCA Purple Month – Rachel and Dean help raise funds for the GSPCA at the OSA Pop Up shop after rescuing Wobble their cat

The last week of November GSPCA supporters Rachel and Dean took over the OSA Pop Up Shop in Smith Street to raise funds for the GSPCA.

Last June the GSPCA team helped rescue their cat Wobble after he had been involved with a road traffic accident.

Rachel said “We were in the OSA Pop up shop from the 28th November and chose GSPCA as our charity to donate to.” 

“We were so happy to help, especially after your invaluable services helping to get our poor little Wobble to the Vet after an RTA back in June, now he’s fully recovered!”

GSPCA Purple Month – Over 20 goldfish in need of a new pond home

The GSPCA currently have over 20 goldfish that were recently rescued from a pond in need of a home.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Recently our GSPCA Welfare Officer Lorna Chadwick attending a pond where a lot of goldfish were in need of a new home.”

“Lorna spent some time literally fishing them out and we have already found a good number of homes for many of the fish but still have over 20 in need of a new pond.”

GSPCA Purple Month – Please support our amazing Warden Jen Bradshaw running the London Marathon in aid of our Wildlife Hospital

Jen Bradshaw said ‘As many of you know I am not a runner. Not even a jogger.  Therefore taking part in the London marathon is a huge challenge for me.  Also as part of this I have given up smoking also. It’s a lifestyle change, not just a physical challenge, mental too.

My aim is to complete the marathon, not fast and it certainly won’t be graceful!

GSPCA Purple Month – Educational Tours a huge success as part of the GSPCA Purple Month celebrations

During half term the GSPCA as part of the GSPCA Purple Month held guided tours to raise funds, show those attending the facilities, plans for the future, talk about our future and all about our 24/7 work.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We haven’t shown the public around the GSPCA since 2019 and it was wonderful to have groups in last week, which most were sell outs.”

“From toddlers to those retired we had a huge range of ages keen to learn about our work at the GSPCA, our past, present and future plans.”

GSPCA Purple Month – Today is National Wildlife Day & have you bought a brick for our much needed Wildlife Hospital

Not only are we in GSPCA Purple Month celebrating 150 years the 22nd February is Nartional Wildlife Day.

National Wildlife Day is a very new holiday, having been founded in 2005 by Colleen Paige. Ms. Paige is considered one of America's leading Pet & Family Lifestyle Experts and wanted to bring awareness to the number of endangered animals that need to be preserved and rescued and also to acknowledge zoos and outstanding animal sanctuaries for everything they do to help animals.
