On Monday we held our sixth volunteer induction evening of 2019 and we were delighted to greet 11 new faces to the GSPCA.

With a wide range of backgrounds and ages the new volunteers were keen to help in various areas and roles with 2 starting work experience placements, 2 Duke of Edinburgh and 7 interested in all sorts of volunteering roles and responsibilities.

GSPCA Animal Care Assistant Beckie Bailey looked after the group greeting them, showing them the video and chatting to each of them setting a start date.

The GSPCA really couldn’t achieve so much without the amazing volunteers that help out with our 24/7 work.

We see an average 120 volunteers helping every week and have an amazing 850+ helping every year.

From manning the ambulance to cleaning kennels, fund raising to gardening, answering the phone to hand rearing baby hedgehogs, in our charity shop to dog training we have a huge range of volunteers helping in many ways.

Beckie Bailey GSPCA Animal Care Assistant said “Thank you to all the new volunteers that came along on Monday to our last induction it was so lovely to meet you all.”

“I started at the GSPCA as a volunteer and I never thought I would be able to work here but after volunteering I was encouraged to apply and I now have the best job in the world.”

“Our volunteers are so awesome and we really do appreciate all that they do for us here at the GSPCA.”

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Thank you to Beckie that helped run the Volunteer Induction on Monday which was our sixth this year and we have now inducted 77 volunteers this year.”

“A huge thanks to all of our volunteers past, present and future we really couldn’t achieve so much without all that they do helping the animals and community of Guernsey.”

“Tomorrow we have 26 staff from BachmannHR Group Ltd coming to volunteer at the GSPCA so we have a very busy #VolunteersWeek here at the GSPCA.”
