This weekend we should have been running around organising and getting ready for our BIGGEST event of the year and we really need you to donate to help our work as we all miss this much loved postponed event by going to - https://giving.gg/donate/event/5876/GSPCA-Coronavirus-Emergency-Appeal

Sadly due to the Coronavirus Pandemic and restrictions we have had to cancel our 9th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

This incredible event draws upwards of 8,000-10,000 visitors from many locals with their pets to the huge cruise liners that are planned for the dates we organise this amazing annual event on.

Our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday would normally raise over £10,000+, we would recruit new volunteers, find many animals homes from the displays we take to the Seafront, create an amazing atmosphere, give over 50 charities the chance to show case their work and fund raise and also 50+ other stall holders from crafts to food all helping the economy and their livelihoods.

The team at the GSPCA are extremely saddened that we cannot give our community this wonderful event on what would have been a lovely sunny weekend and we are appealing for your support as without this event we are missing out on so much support.

Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “This should have been our 9th consecutive Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and we are all so devasted that we cannot hold what is always such a fun and much loved Guernsey annual event that really celebrates animals in Guernsey.”

“It is so strange not to be running around getting things ready and all the 100’s of volunteers, supporters and stall holders gearing up for what is always such an incredible day.”

“The GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday is our BIGGEST event in the year and helps in so many ways and without it we are unable to raise the £10,000+, find animals homes, promote our work and have a huge amount of fun with the community and other organisations.”

“For all those that love and support this day and want to help animals in Guernsey please donate to our #GSPCACoronavirusCrisisAppeal by visiting - https://giving.gg/donate/event/5876/GSPCA-Coronavirus-Emergency-Appeal , by post or by phone 01481 257261.”

By post please make cheques payable to 'GSPCA’ and post to GSPCA, Rue des Truchots, St Andrews, Guernsey, GY6 8UD.

Lorna Chadwick GSPCA Animal Welfare Officer said “We had so much lined up for our 9th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and so many stall holders booked in, many of which have donated their pitch fees to our work at this difficult time which we are so grateful for.”

“Although we aren’t able to hold this great event and the fun dog show we did launch our Virtual Petshow and with over 500 entries we are going to let everyone know the winners on what should have been our Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday day which is of course the 31st May 2020, please watch our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GuernseySPCA .”

“The entries have come from across the world making it our first ever virtual and global event and we cannot thank everyone enough for all of the great pictures for the many categories.”

Emma Topley GSPCA Animal Care Assistant and Receptionist said “We miss all of our events and as well as releasing the Virtual Petshow winners on our facebook we want to thank everyone that entered our Rainbow Drawing Competition and we will also release the winners for this on what should have been the GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.”

“It was so hard to judge all the entries and thank you to Beckie Bailey that helped with this.”

Steve continued “So lots to look forward to on what should have been our 9th Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday and we will also release the winner of the Becky Rowe Unicorn Silver Pendent draw and let you know about the next great gift they are donating for the next donation prize.”

“Also we will be promoting the #PetorateToCelebrate event which is to take place nationally this June.”

“For those that have supported us through these difficult days we cannot thank you enough and please do continue to support us as without our events, boarding, shops and so many other activities cancelled we need your support now more than ever.”

“All being well we really look forward to bringing you the biggest and best ever Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday in 2021.”
