Today GSPCA team member Natalie Spicer is in store 10am to 12pm collecting, tomorrow Tim Pellett another team members with a team will be in store and Good Friday the GSPCA Manager plans to be there collecting and promoting our work and our 150 years.
This weekend tens of thousands of us across the Bailiwick of Guernsey could be putting your pet at risk at if you feed your pet chocolate intended for people or they manage to find those carefully hidden from the children, as many of us might be planning our Easter Egg Hunts at home.
Across the Bailiwick we are all stocking up Easter eggs and chocolate as gifts for family and loved ones, but the GSPCA has an important message for pet owners.
As part of the Easter celebrations and our 150th year we have planned some Easter themed Childrens Art Events and also Easter Educational Guided Tours to see some of the areas of the Animal Shelter, look back at our rich history and the plans for the future.
Childrens Easter Art Event
These are going to be run by two of the most arty team members we have at the GSPCA Sarah Harrison and Karen Lane both who not only have a wealth of knowledge in the arts and creativity, they have a huge range of arty items to help entertain your child.
Yesterday 4 young children visited the GSPCA with an amazing £100 donation raised through Easter gifts they made and sold on the GSPCA Vedge Hedge Stall at our front gate.
Libby 11, Benjamin 9, Darcie 7 and Freddi-Jayne 6 came along yesterday and gifted the wonderful donation to GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “A huge thank you to Libby, Benjamin, Darcie and Freddi-Jayne for the amazing Easter sewn toys to eggs in wrappers they made, wrapped and placed on the GSPCA Hedge Vedge Stall.”
With another year with restrictions and tens of thousands of us at home this Easter across the Bailiwick of Guernsey you could be putting your pet at risk at if you feed your pet chocolate intended for people or they manage to find those carefully hidden from the children, as many of us might be planning our home Easter Egg Hunt as with the Coronavirus restrictions hunts are cancelled across the islands.

It is amazing the ideas both young and those more mature think to raise funds to help the many animals in our care and the work carried out 24/7 by the GSPCA
Lizzie Ferbrache said “My children would like to do some fundraising for the GSPCA.”
“They would like to do some selling in time for Easter.”
“They were planning to make cones with little eggs in wrappers and possibly some sewn rabbit toys.”
“They wanted to sell hedge veg style in aid of the GSPCA.”
“They are Libby 11, Benjamin 9, Darcie 7 and Freddi-Jayne 6.”

The GSPCA has recently seen a huge rise in the numbers of rabbits coming into our care.
With 25 rabbits looking for new homes and many more coming in over the next few days Easter was certainly a busy time at the GSPCA for those that care for the rabbits.
Many of the GSPCA rabbits looking for homes are now outside on our Bunny Hop Hill and we are not only appealing for new homes for those in our care but we are also appealing for funds to help build new enclosures for the rabbits at the GSPCA.
Be aware this weekend you could be putting your pet at risk at Easter if you feed your pet chocolate intended for people or they manage to find those carefully hidden from the children.
