Following the States of Guernsey announcement about the Coronavirus Pandemic many of our services, events, boarding, and income streams have stopped and we really need your help.

Although we remain committed to looking after all of the animals in our care and rescuing those in need, the restrictions and safety procedures we have in place are causing many challenges.

With running costs of £2,000 a day NEVER have we needed your support more than we do today.

One of our wonderful volunteers who helps each Monday and been very much missing walking the dogs and helping around the GSPCA has decided to help some much needed funds for the GSPCA. Check out this great online event this Monday -

Lucy Radford tells us all about  it “When I started bakewithluce it was never just about business. I simply wanted to try and live a more fulfilling and inspiring life.

So where do you find that? in others of course...

The team at the GSPCA are such an inspiration and for the past 6 months I've been volunteering.

At the GSPCA finding an animal a new home is a very special moment as we wave them off on their new adventure.

When we hear how they are doing it is even more heart warming and earlier this year we found a very special cat a home called Charlie.

Charlie's new owner contacted us recently with an update and said “I am pleased to confirm that Charlie has settled in with us really quickly.”

“She has become a valued family member.”

On Friday two guinea pigs were dumped at the GSPCA.

In these challenging days the GSPCA like all of our community are experiencing a broad range of unique circumstances.

One of the biggest like with many charities and businesses is the dramatic change in income from donations and boarding and we appeal for your support during these difficult times.

GSPCA advice to animal owners and what to do if you find animal during heightened procedures due to Coronavirus

Submitted by Steve on 16:22, 16th Mar, 2020 | 0

During these difficult days in relation to Coronavirus or Covid-19 as well as thinking about the health and well being of one another we also need to ensure the animals of Guernsey are cared for.

While there is no evidence to suggest that pets can be carriers of Coronavirus or can become ill from it themselves, your pets may be impacted if you or any members of your family test positive for the virus or are asked to stay at home and self-isolate.

At the GSPCA we provide an essential service to animals in need and the community. With the heightened risk of Covid-19 we are taking steps to reduce risk to our team and visitors by postponing all non-essential events until further advice is given.

Sadly this does means that all room hire, volunteer inductions, first aid courses, dog training, educational talks, educational visits, events run by the GSPCA are being postponed until further notice.

Furthest travelled and most unusual arrival ever at the GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 13:47, 5th Mar, 2020 | 0

On the 15th February the GSPCA had a very unusual arrival.

We have seen a rise in reptiles in recent years as unwanted pets and even cruelty cases, but rarely get wild reptiles but just over 2 weeks ago a stow away from much further East than Herm was brought into the GSPCA.

A couple who had recently been on holiday to India were shocked to find that a very unusual little creature had taken a trip in their bags and returned home with them.
