GSPCA awarded the Guernsey Community Foundation Charity of the Year

Last night the Guernsey Community Foundation held their 6th annual awards evening to highlight the amazing charity work that goes on across Guernsey.

It has been a humbling whirlwind and the GSPCA and our fantastic team are extremely proud to announce that we have been awarded the Charity of the Year.

24 hours a day 7 days a week work to help animals and the community goes on 365 days a year and without our amazing team and the wonderful support of the community we couldn't achieve so much.

Nominations for the CEVA Welfare Awards 2017 are now open - could you nominate someone in Guernsey?

The CEVA dedicated Welfare Awards website is now open for nominations - www.cevawelfareawards.com

Please note nominations can only be submitted electronically via the website this year. Nominations will be accepted until early January.

In 2015 GSPCA President and local vet John Knight won the Vet of the Year category and our very own Yvonne Chauvel the GSPCA Senior Animal Care Assistant were finalists for the Charity Professional of the Year Award.

Volunteer Induction Evening 6.30pm on Thursday 3rd November

On Thursday (tomorrow at 6.30pm) we hold our fourteenth volunteer induction of 2016.

We are blessed with over 600 volunteers helping the GSPCA every year and on average over 100 every single week.

With the upcoming winter wet conditions here is advice from GSPCA to ensure horses and animals have all they need in Guernsey

Each winter we see very wet weather and at the GSPCA each year we receive a large number of calls from concerned members of public about horses and other animals in wet and muddy fields.

With the wet weather we see at this time of year in Guernsey we want to help prepare those with animals in fields.

Sarah Creasey GSPCA Animal Welfare and Education Officer said "Each Winter we often see long sustained very wet periods with many animals being affected."

GSPCA join Guernsey Mind and Les Bourgs Hospice in the finals of the Guernsey Community Foundation Charity of the Year Award

Yesterday the finalists of the Guernsey Community Foundation Awards were announced.

The GSPCA are proud and very privileged to be shortlisted for Charity of the Year with the amazing Les Bourgs Hospice and fantastic Guernsey Mind who both do amazing things for the community at their causes.

This evening on ITV Channel at 6pm they will be show casing all three charities and on Thursday they will broadcast live the winner from St James Hall at the awards evening.

The judges of the award gave this as the reason for short listing the GSPCA -

November 1st is National Cook For Your Pets Day but please ensure your pet is fed the correct diet. 

Our pets bring us so much joy and give some much of themselves shouldn’t we give back?

This November 1st show your pets how much you care by focusing on their health and nutrition and cooking for them. You can make a day of meals or a simple treat, whatever you make they are sure to love it!

Last Halloween Tour and Hunt a great evening at the GSPCA

On Sunday we held our last Spooky Tour and Hunt at the GSPCA with a group of 7 scary little monsters and witches.

Throughout half term we have held special tours at the GSPCA which included a quiz, meeting some of the more unusual animals, fancy dress and a very spooky room filled with prizes.

All the young monsters were accompanied by their parents and all had a great afternoon with yesterdays being the latest so was set in the dark to add to the spookiness of the event.

A Howler of a Halloween Ball thanks to Sidneys Sponsored Events & all that supported in aid of the GSPCA

On Saturday evening the St Pierre Park Hotel was packed with ghosts and monsters raising funds for the GSPCA and animals in Guernsey.

Thanks to Corinne Connolly and Sidneys Sponsored Events a room was packed with amazing fancy dress, great dancers, entertainment and finished with a full dance floor thanks to City Limits.

Daisy and Etienne get a special Halloween Tour at the GSPCA Spooky Event

On Saturday Daisy and Etienne were two very luck Halloween dressed children as they got a personal Halloween Tour at the GSPCA.

They got up and close to Stan the stick insect, Pollyanna the corn snake, Point the hedgehog, Tom the cat and many other animals at the GSPCA.

After their tour they had the answers for their Halloween quiz sheet and got prizes for the doing so well and their wonderful fancy dress.
