The GSPCA couldn’t achieve so much without our dedicated trained staff and we currently recruiting for staff, especially for those available during weekends and bank holidays.
It is preferable if applicants have a driving licence , but not necessarily essential at this time.

At the GSPCA we have offered microchipping for your cat, rabbit or dog for only £4.99 for nearly 10 years.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “The GSPCA helps over 1500 domestic animals every year and sadly only 80% of dogs and cats are microchipped meaning of the 200 stray dogs and 3-400 stray cats we help we struggle with many to quickly identify owners and some of the microchip details aren’t up to date.”
With less than 2 weeks to go, the GSPCA are busy preparing for the tenth Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.
Despite the restrictions last year we saw over 100 stalls at our biggest event of the year and 2021 is looking to once again be a bumper year.
We would be delighted if any stalls or buskers would like to join us to help celebrate animals in Guernsey.
As part of our 10th Seafront Sunday we are inviting you to join in our Animal Olympic Obstacle course, with a chance to win two return tickets to Alderney; courtesy of Aurigny Airlines (for the adults) and two Outdoor Guernsey vouchers (for any children aged 12 and under).
So how do you take part?
Meet our team at the Crown Pier arena at 1.30pm, pop a small donation in our charity bucket and choose which animal costume to wear during your attempt to BEE the best around our fun course.
Many visitors to the GSPCA over the last 15 years will remember Eddie a black cat that arrived as a feral and who decided to make the Animal Shelter his home.
Over the years Eddie relaxed into his older years and became very friendly with many of the team and visitors.
Sadly his health has been deteriorating and on the weekend the GSPCA were extremely saddened as Eddie passed over to Rainbow Bridge.
Eddie will remain in our hearts and our memories.
The GSPCA is asking all rabbits to take great care as Rabbit Haemorraghic Viral Disease (RHVD2) variant 2 is being seen once again here in Guernsey and a surge of rabbits with myxomatosis are being seen with the large numbers of rabbits around Guernsey.
These fatal diseases are a huge risk to unvaccinated rabbits and especially to those in outside enclosures.
The GSPCA helps over 150 wild and domestic rabbits every year, although this year we have already had over 323 through our doors since the 1st January.
What is RHVD2?
This Wednesday 25th and Thursday 26th August it is the North Show and the GSPCA will be there with a stall for the ninth year in a row.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "This summer is extraordinarily busy for us at the GSPCA as well as the continued challenges."
"The North Show is always a wonderful event and at the GSPCA we are so grateful to them to be allowed to join them once again."
"Pop along and see our GSPCA stall at the North Show."
Last week the GSPCA attended what was a fantastic and record breaking West Show.
For the last 10 years the GSPCA hasn’t missed a show at L’Eree and this year we raised the most we have ever achieved.
The stall which was run by GSPCA team members Steve Byrne, Lorna Chadwick Suzy Rose, Jo Byrne and Joseph Fox over the two days managed to raise an incredible £2,300.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “Last week the GSPCA had an extremely busy 2 days at the West Show.”
With a hugely busy Animal Shelter and many events the GSPCA is starting recruitment of volunteers after an 18 month break due to the covid pandemic.
We are still taking a cautious approach and at this time asking all those interested to complete a volunteer application form and send it to [email protected]
