His Excellency & Lady Corder help release Gov the hedgehog back where he was found at Government House

In the middle of Winter on the 4th January a very thin unwell hedgehog was rescued in the grounds at Government House.

The poorly hedgehog which was half his ideal body weight would have likely perished if he hadn’t have been rescued and brought into the GSPCA to care for over the last few months.

The hedgehog which has been called ‘Governor’ has made huge improvements and as he has now reached a healthy release weight.

Stall & busking spaces available for the GSPCA Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday on 28th May only 2 weeks away

With only two weeks to go the GSPCA are busy preparing for the sixth Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday.

With a large cruise liner visiting it is set to be a busy day on the 28th May.

We are more than happy if any stalls or buskers would like to join us and if you are interested in supporting our day to celebrate animals in Guernsey please do get in touch.

Amazing & busy Liberation Day for GSPCA - thanks to all that helped & supported - next event Animal Welfare Seafront Sunday 28/5

The GSPCA with like to say a huge thank you to the organisors of the Liberation Day celebrations in St Peter Port and at the Last Post, both were amazing events and a huge congratulations to all of the organisors.

On Tuesday teams of volunteers took stalls to both events and had a wonderful day celebrating and raising funds for the GSPCA.

In St Peter Port the stall was manned by Steve Byrne, Guy Hardill, Joseph Fox, Ellie Fox, Michelle Champion and even 5 month old Dylan Byrne helped raise in excess of £2500 on an extremely busy stall full of games and GSPCA goods on sale.

12 new volunteers join the GSPCA for the 5th volunteer induction of 2017 - next induction 23rd May 630pm

Last week on Thursday 4th May we held our fifth volunteer induction of 2017 at the GSPCA and saw another packed room of 12 new helpers keen to learn how they can get involved with us here at the Animal Shelter adding to the 77 inducted this year taking this years inducted volunteers to a total of 89 not including others that have helped from businesses, groups and other organisations.

A literal 100+ ground breaking staff from Northern Trust make a difference at the GSPCA

Yesterday Northern Trust broke a GSPCA record as over 100 of their staff have now helped volunteer since April 2014.

This was a literal ground breaking record as the team of 8 not only took the volunteer numbers from Northern Trust to 106 they also spent the day digging, weeding, planting and laying a disabled access path to our wildlife area and pond with help from the Work to Benefit team and Group Leader Ann Wragg from St Andrews Floral Group.

Volunteer Induction Evening 6.30pm Thursday 4th May - All welcome - additional date also set on the 23rd May

Our fifth volunteer induction evening of 2017 takes place on Thursday 4th May at 630pm and we have additional one being held on Tuesday 23rd May.

We are always looking for volunteers to help at the Shelter in a variety of roles. Volunteers helping raise funds for the GSPCA Animal Shelter Guernsey

On Thursday 20th and Friday 21st April the wonderful staff from The Travel Corporation joined the team at the GSPCA.

This is the third year in a row team members from The Travel Corporation have helped at the GSPCA.

An amazing Swede Dreamz Tribute Band evening of ABBA thanks to Sidneys Sponsored Events & all that supported

On Friday night at the Duke of Richmond a fabulous Abba night was had by over 200 supporters all dressed up for an amazing evening in aid of the GSPCA.

Organised by Corinne Connolly and Sidneys Sponsored Events there are many thanks to those that supported, helped, donated to the raffle, the hotel and of course the wonderful Swede Dreamz Tribute Band.

Organisor and founder of Sidneys Sponsored Events Corinne Connolly said "Guernsey is only just coming down after a fabulous show on Friday."

Good luck Sarah Ozanne from all of the team at the GSPCA in a new veterinary nursing career

On the 15th February 2012 Sarah Ozanne joined the team at the GSPCA as a volunteer dog walker and started helping at the Animal Shelter in many of the departments.

Her interest in the work at the Shelter quickly grew and after applying for a full time post at the GSPCA she started her career in December of the same year.
