Aurigny is delighted to announce the GSPCA and Male Uprising Guernsey (MUG) as its Chosen Charities for 2018 - the year the airline marks its 50th Anniversary.
Staff at Aurigny have selected the two local charities as airline’s official charities for its 50th year, in a company-wide vote. As well as raising money throughout the year, airline staff will be volunteering with both charities.
GSPCA manager Steve Byrne thanked Aurigny for its continued support, having successfully worked with the airline previously.
A huge thanks from GSPCA to Pets at Home & Support Adoption for Pets & those that supported the Santa Paws Appeal
Last week GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne and the team had a lovely visit from Rory Thorington Store Manager and Nicole Prevel Store Colleague from Guernsey Pets at Home.
The visit was to have a tour of the Shelter and to see the many animals in our care and the work that is carried out 24/7 helping over 3000 animals every year.
As well as a visit Rory and Nicole had a wonderful gift for the many animals at the GSPCA.

Tomorrow night (Wednesday 11th April) we will hold our fourth volunteer induction of 2018.
The induction will take place with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who will greet the new volunteers and then show a video about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely to all the new volunteers who need to be aged from 13 years upwards to help with the animals on site.
The GSPCA are currently looking for additional staff members to help with our increasingly busy front desk, the animals, guided tours, cleaning and to continue to develop our charity shop area.
The closing date for these posts is Thursday 19th April 2018.
The roles are casual positions to help cover 7 days a week and especially on weekends and bank holidays when the GSPCA is often extremely busy.
During the school breaks we run a series of guided tours at the GSPCA and we have now planned for 2018 with the next happening over the Easter break
You can also book a tour for a special event or birthday. For details on special tours please see below.
This is your opportunity to visit behind the scenes at our Animal Shelter in St Andrews and see the work being carried out.
Last month the GSPCA celebrated 145 years with our #GSPCApurpleWeek.
Many got involved and one very special, generous and kind school was Vale Primary who last week donated over 500 items from hay to animal feed to help the 500 animals in our care.
At the start of #GSPCAPurpleWeek GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne went to see the 500 pupils and talk to them about the work of the Shelter and this week three reception classes enjoyed guided tours at the GSPCA.
Isabelle Vets recently announced the winner of the Isabelle Vets Pet Hero competition which was Catrina the tabby cat, as voted for by the general public.
All of the nominated finalists were ‘Heros’ in their own right, with over five hundred people voting for their chosen hero in a closely-run competition. On a small Island such as Guernsey, this truly shows the kindness and enthusiasm of people, in taking the time to recognise the bravery of all of these stoic pets.
Last Monday we held our third volunteer induction of 2018 and welcomed 5 new volunteers at the GSPCA taking this years total to 46 new volunteers inducted.
Chau Yu, Julia, Maddi, Alex and Michele all arrived for 630pm where they learnt all about the work at the GSPCA and how to work safely as a volunteer.
The event took place with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who after their induction spoke with each of them and set a date to start with the youngest starting from 13 which is the minimum age to help with the animals on site at the Shelter.
The GSPCA have planned out the dates for 2018 Volunteer Inductions and the third takes place tonight at 6.30pm at the GSPCA in St Andrews.
The induction will take place with GSPCA Manager Steve Byrne who will greet the new volunteers and then show a video about who we are, what we do, the ways volunteers can help and an induction of how to help safely to all the new volunteers who need to be aged from 13 years upwards to help with the animals on site.
