The GSPCA are hugely grateful to Nickie Browning the Fire Safety Officer for the States of Guernsey.
Last year Nickie helped the GSPCA update our fire safety procedures and last week she spent two mornings with the team to train them in safety procedures if there was an emergency or fire at the GSPCA.
Since November 2016 Dr Ben Howitt BVSc MRCVS has worked closely with the team at the GSPCA to help care for the thousands of animals through the doors every year.
When Ben joined the team at Isabelle Vets it wasn’t long before each week he would attend the GSPCA for the main vet check days and very quickly a wonderful relationship was established.
Ben with his friendly, helpful and caring nature was a fantastic help not only to the many sick and injured animals, but also to the GSPCA team.
On Tuesday 15th January staff from Lloyds Bank International Ltd attended the GSPCA morning briefing to talk to the team about Financial Well Being.
The Bringing Banking to You Manager Islands Community Banking with a Lloyds Bank International Ltd colleague gave an informative impartial talk to start the day.
Harley the staffy has been at the GSPCA for just over a month looking for a home so spent her Christmas at the GSPCA.
This very sweet, loving dog has stolen the hearts of the staff and volunteers and indeed everyone she meets.
Earlier this week Harley visited Isabelle Vets for a spay check to ensure she was neutered.
All of Harleys health checks since her arrival showed a healthy staffy but when she went to the vets and was put under anesthetic they found a very angry, rapid growing growth an one of her legs.
Four students from St Sampsons High School have teamed up for the business challenge.
Eoin Murphy, Seth Bullock, Ellis Lockwood and Lee Bourgaize have created cute Flannel-animals.

Thy have made cute looking animals out of flannels for all animal lovers.

Yesterday the GSPCA team released a female Barn Owl that was rescued on the 3rd December last year.
The bird that has been called Nicki was found injured in the road on L’Ancresse and on arrival the team thought her chances of survival were very slight.
If the finder Nick Fitzgerald hadn’t have rescued the bird she surely wouldn’t still be alive.
The rescuer actually saw Nicki fly into the side of a car which and he thankfully managed to stop and catch the bird and transported her to the GSPCA.
The GSPCA would like to extend a huge thanks to iD Porte Ltd who recently called in to donate 6 new Halo Microchip Scanners which are entirely manufactured locally here in Guernsey and exported all over the world.
With over 1000 domestic pets rescued through the doors and over 500 hedgehogs each year the GSPCA use microchip scanners day and night to identify animals and with stray pets reunite them with their owners.
