Those present were interested in helping with dog walking to reception, cat pen cleaning to helping with the wildlife, fund raising to volunteering to gain experience for their CV and some to help gain life skills.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager greeted the group and gave a presentation and talk about the work we carry out 24 hours 7 days a week, the differing volunteer roles and how to work safely at the GSPCA Shelter and our events.

Today many of the staff have been heart broken as Jackie La Marchant put down her broom for the final time at the GSPCA.
Having helped 2 days a week for over 15 years and at the age of 82 years she said a sad farewell to team.
Jackie has been a massive help in the Hospital Department caring for the many sick and injured animals at the Shelter and Yvonne Chauvel Senior Animal Care Assistant will especially miss Jackie as she has been a real star in her department.
At the GSPCA we are currently working extremely hard behind the scene to care for many baby birds, baby hedgehogs and even have a number of baby ferrets and kittens.
Thankfully the kittens and ferrets have mothers to feed for them but the ducklings, hoglets and fledglings are all filling our intensive care units at such a rate we are having to appeal for help to purchase extra as well as for hand rear milk and meal worms to feed them.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "In the last week or so we have seen a surge in young animals and birds being rescued and needing our care."
All this week two students from St Sampsons High School have been helping out at the GSPCA.
Grace Juggins and Lucy Hockey have been helping care for the 350 animals at the Shelter and learning about the work of the GSPCA.
Both have been a fantastic help and we thought we needed to make a special mention as they have worked so well and we have enjoyed their company as both have been extremely polite, hard working and very interested in the many areas of the Shelter.
