If you see kittens at Icart Point please let the GSPCA know

Submitted by GSPCA on 11:25, 10th Jul, 2013 | 1

This week we have received a young kitten that was rescued out at Icart Point.

The GSPCA are concerned that there may be others and if you are out in the area and come across any please get in touch with the Shelter.

Tiger as he has been named was found extremely thin, no mother in site and full of worms, fleas and may not have survived if he had not been rescued.

This time of year kittens are often rescued and brought into the GSPCA and just this morning another feral was rescued and brought in from the Bouet area who is now named Molly.

Nouska needs your help - A husky needs an operation to remove a cancerous lump

Submitted by GSPCA on 12:10, 3rd Jul, 2013 | 0

Nouska is an older husky that has found his way to the GSPCA Animal Shelter and it has developed that he has a cancerous growth in his chest.

To help save Nouska and lengthen his life next Wednesday he is having an operation to remove the lump.

With any operation there is both a risk and a cost but the vets and the team at the GSPCA feel that despite Nouska being over 10 years old he has a lot of life and love to give.

Pickles the cat after her operation at the GSPCA

Submitted by GSPCA on 16:11, 14th Mar, 2013 | 0

Pickles the cat who was diagnosed with cancer had her operation to remove her ear tips yesterday.

She is doing well and the vet and team at the Shelter are hopeful that Pickles has had all of the affected areas removed.

Anna Carre Senior Animal Care Assistant said 'She is so sweet and she still has a way to go before her ears are all healed.'

'The main problem I now have with Pickles is that she is so friendly she wants to head rub you to say hello and with her ears needing to heal its very difficult to stop it.'

Oscar the cat has kidney problems and needs your support

Submitted by GSPCA on 17:19, 8th Mar, 2013 | 0

Every day we see sick and injured animals here at the GSPCA Animal Shelter in Guernsey.

Oscar a male black and white cat although looks quite healthy has kidney problems and the GSPCA and our vets are trying to determine what is the exact problem.

After a series of tests he currently is having a 3 week course of antibiotics to hopefully cure what we are hoping will be just an infection.

Oscar is just one of the many un-neutered, stray cats we have had in at the Shelter this year and we are urging owners to ensure their cats are spayed with Spring upon us.

Cinders is doing well after her operation yesterday

Submitted by GSPCA on 18:05, 28th Feb, 2013 | 0

You may have heard about or seen Cinders the cat on the internet or local media.

She came in to the Shelter for rehoming but unfortunately had a number of issues with her health, teeth and gums.

Cinders had an initial opertation and has been on treatment for two months but unfortunately yesterday the brave decision had to be made to remove all but her 4 canines leaving her with a very gummy mouth.

Although never an easy decision, despite a series of treatments, it was decided to remove many of Cinders teeth as it was in her best interest.
