Jethou Bumblebee who was rescued in November 2012 from Jethou and Hanois who was found in Pleinmont on Saturday are doing well but with Jethou Bumblebee eating 20 mackerel or herring a day and  Hanois being weaned on to fish these grey seal pups need your help.

We hope to see you all at the Soup Kitchen next Tuesday but we need fish for our Grey Seal Pup

Submitted by GSPCA on 15:41, 28th Nov, 2012 | 0

We are pleased to announce that Jethou Bumblebee is doing extremely well.

He has been on fish soup for the past few days and last night devoured his first fish all on his own.

His appetite has picked up and he is going through fish at a rate on knots.  As such the GSPCA are appealing for fish so that we can meet his very hungry belly.

The GSPCA would also like to appeal for a new chest freezer to help store all of the fish he will require to get him back to health.

Appeal to find the owner of an injured cat found in St Peter Port on the 12th November 2012

Submitted by GSPCA on 15:51, 15th Nov, 2012 | 0

On Saturday the 12th November the GSPCA had to rush a stray tabby and white female cat that was found on a roof in St Peter Port with what looked like signs of a road traffic injury to the vets.

Unfortunately she had no collar and no microchip but is extremely friendly and staff believe that there must be an owner for her somewhere.

Due to her injuries she is still at the vets and the GSPCA are urging anyone who may own this cat to come forward.

Felix really needs your help after more than a year in search of that forever home at the GSPCA

Submitted by GSPCA on 18:07, 13th Nov, 2012 | 0

Felix arrived at the GSPCA Animal Shelter in October in 2011 and has been at the Shelter for well over a year which makes her the longest stay cat in need of a new home. Many of you will know of Victor a cat who also came in around the same time and we are pleased to say he is off to a new home very soon.

Unfortunately Felix came in as a 3 year old semi-feral and as such was extremely nervous and timid after her bad start in life.

Roger a lovely old stray sick cat needs your help

Submitted by GSPCA on 16:17, 10th Oct, 2012 | 0

The GSPCA is asking for your help for this very friendly poorly cat.

Roger came into the Shelter as a very elderly sick stray earlier this month.  When he arrived he had multiple health problems and needed to be rushed to the vets where he was placed on a drip and under intensive care for some time.

The vets are now recommending he has a number of tests and an operation before the Animal Shelter can find him a good home.

Appeal for the GSPCA Longest Stay Cats Felix and Victor who are in need of a home

Submitted by GSPCA on 14:56, 25th Sep, 2012 | 0

We need your help.

The GSPCA currently has two cats that next month will have been at the Shelter in search of a new home for over a year.

Felix and Victor are two strays that arrived at the Shelter last October as semi-ferals.  Although their behaviour has much improved with the TLC staff and volunteers have given them we are still in search of a very special home for these very independent cats.

The Shelter currently has over 25 cats looking for homes at the Shelter and many more strays and others being treated before they can go up for adoption.

Take care when looking for a pet as you could quickly have a house full - Chinese Hamsters in need of a good home

Submitted by GSPCA on 12:27, 17th Sep, 2012 | 0

A year since the GSPCA had over 40 hamsters the Shelter has recently received another home full.

Fortunately less than quarter the number of last years incident the GSPCA is asking pet owners to take care when choosing small mammals as pets.  Hamsters puberty happens from as young as 4 weeks and with a gestation period of 2 to 3 weeks and a litter size of 1 to 18 babies a home could quickly be overwhelmed.
