Sarah has been working at the GSPCA for nearly eight years and loves every part the job brings working on reception and on call.
Please Vote for the GSPCA in the Emergency Hero of the Year Award, sponsored by MSG.
THE GSPCA Animal Shelter has been nominated for the Pride of Guernsey 2023 Emergency Hero of the Year award, sponsored by MSG.
The GSPCA is the island’s main animal rescue centre, helping every type of animal day and night from birds to seals, from hedgehogs to cats.
The GSPCA has been active on the island for 150 years.
Over all those years the animal rescue service has been dedicated to helping the animals and the community.
Although we haven’t had the hottest of Summers the GSPCA are expecting to receive calls and reports from the public from dogs locked in cars, dogs being walked on hot pavements, animals in direct sunlight, wildlife in need and we want to remind all pet owners of the real dangers to their pets and how you can help wildlife.
With the extreme warm weather and direct sunlight, dogs and other animals whether in cars or their pens are potentially in a situation where you could kill your pet if it is left, regardless of the situation.
With over 150 years of helping animals in Guernsey and more animals being helped each year than ever before the GSPCA are looking to add new team members to help ensure our 24/7 work.
The GSPCA has had to grow in recent years to meet the demands on our services and ensure the care and rescue of animals in need.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We are very excited to announce some exciting new opportunities at the GSPCA, but there are only weeks left to apply.”
Today Thursday 24th August is the second day of the North Show and the GSPCA are here with a stall and have been attending since 2012.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said "As mentioned yesterday this summer is extraordinarily busy for us at the GSPCA, especially with celebrating our 150 years and our BIG BUILD Appeal."
“Even last night we didn’t stop with stray dogs, baby birds, injured hedgehogs, injured bat and so many other challenges.”
