Spring is always a busy time for the GSPCA and we can all do something to help ensure the animals of Guernsey.

“With birds especially in full swing of building their nests and some already nesting the GSPCA wants to share a number of important messages.”
“One has been recently shared by Song Bird Survival and the States of Guernsey on the importance of not putting out pet hair.”
Yesterday the States of Guernsey issued the following on their facebook media channel -
‘To retrieve the grey squirrel which has been spotted in the island, the States Veterinary Officer has asked a local pest controller to set up traps where it has been seen most recently.
We’d kindly ask islanders not to gather where the squirrel has been sighted as this will make the pest controller’s job more difficult.
On our 152nd anniversary of the GSPCA an extremely poorly stray cat arrived at the GSPCA that needed rushing to the vets.
Brie as the young ginger female cat has been called had a very large and extremely infected would to her side which could be smelt well before you could see it.
The suffering she must have been enduring would have been extremely unpleasant and painful and the extent of the infection meant that on examination it was apparent that it was likely to have been some weeks Brie had been suffering for.

Yesterday was a busy day for stow away animals.
Not only has a grey squirrel been spotted yesterday there was also a Madeiran lizard found in a suitcase.
Steve Byrne GSPCA Manager said “We never know what we are going to have to help and yesterday we had the surprise that a grey squirrel was spotted and also we had another non indigenous animal brought in to us.”
“An islander having been on holiday on their return and unpacking found a Madeiran lizard.”
BREAKING NEWS – Squirrel on the loose in Guernsey.
The GSPCA have just had a report that a squirrel has accidentally found its way to Guernsey via a vehicle.
