Last week the staff and volunteers at the GSPCA took part in training in Pet Bereavement thanks to the Guernsey Bereavement Service.

Sadly every day of the year staff and volunteers at the GSPCA help owners of pets that have died, whether recently or in the past and it is always hard to know if you are saying the right thing.

Good Luck to the superstar Helen in her new role, all the GSPCA team will miss her in her full time role

Yesterday was a very sad day for the team at the GSPCA as we said farewell to Helen Holmes in her role who is without doubt one of the most diverse staff members at the GSPCA.

Helen has worked at the GSPCA for over 12 years and although has the title of Admin Manager you would often see her helping on animal departments, carrying out home visits, covering reception, helping at events, hand rearing animals, running the vet list, helping owners with their cremations and so many other duties that helped so many animals, their owners and the team throughout the GSPCA.

Sixth and latest ever seal pup in the season to be rescued - please donate to Hannah and the other 6 seal pups at the GSPCA

Submitted by Steve on 09:47, 17th Feb, 2019 | 0

Yesterday morning the GSPCA team were called out to yet another sick and very underweight grey seal pup.

The call came near the Fairy Ring and the team when they arrived were faced with an emaciated and very poorly young seal pup which was half the weight it should be.

The pup was quickly recued and transported to the GSPCA and the young pup at only a few weeks old should be over 40kgs and was just 20.6kg when rescued with no mother in site.

This takes the numbers of seal pups to the highest it has ever been in our long history.
